Staff in our Cambridge office showed enthusiastic support for National Doughnut Week (NDW) this year to raise money for the UKs leading charity for children with brain injury - The Children's Trust.
Every year around 40,000 children in the UK are left with a brain injury as a result of an accident or illness. Aiming to deliver rehabilitation, education and community services the Trust's ambition is for all children with brain injury and neurodisability to have the opportunity to live the best life possible.
National Doughnut Week is sponsored by CSM Bakery Solutions and spearheaded by The Children's Trsut Ambassador Phil Tufnell. NDW has been running annually since it was founded by an independent baker in 1991 and is supported every year by hundreds of bakers, cafes and shops, NDW raised £33,679 for the charity in 2018.
Encore staff suspended diets and gave generously to buy doughnuts with all proceeds going to the charity which counts well known names such as David Walliams, Jenni Falconer, Amanda Burton, Richard Hammond and Elaine Paige among its many ambassadors.
Director and co-founder Neil Robinson said:
"It has to be said our staff love cakes in all their forms so what better way to support such a wonderful cause than by supplying doughnuts directly to their desks! We really enjoyed taking part in this initiative and hope that National Doughnut Week 2019 raised lots of money for The Children's Trust."
